There was a fisherman who lived in a small house by the lake, surrounded by dozens of pear trees in full bloom. People called him the "Pear Blossom Fisherman." One bright moonlit night, while fishing on the lake, he heard someone shouting from the shore, "Ferry, ferry!" He rowed the boat over and saw a young nun had already jumped onto the boat. She was about seventeen or eighteen, wearing a white robe, and was remarkably beautiful. When he asked where she came from, she remained silent. He rowed back home, and she followed him ashore, walking through the pear blossom forest and heading south. The fisherman found it strange; she seemed otherworldly.
The next night, returning home, he found the house lit up, and the nun was already inside. Feeling uneasy, the fisherman asked her where she came from. She replied, "I am not human. I used to live in a village by the lake. My parents sent me to be a nun. I died on my birthday this year. Due to our past life connection, I've come to accompany you. Also, in the future, you will marry a good wife, and I'll help arrange it for you. Don't be surprised." From then on, every morning at the crowing of the rooster, she would leave, returning in the evening. This went on for nearly a year, and the neighbors could smell a fragrance emanating from the fisherman's house.
In the village, there was a family with a grown-up daughter. One day, she was suddenly possessed by a spirit, predicting various fortunes and misfortunes accurately. It also mentioned, "Your daughter is ill, and only the Pear Blossom Fisherman can cure her. They are destined to be husband and wife, or she will die." The parents, frightened, invited the fisherman to their house. Confused, the fisherman declined. In the evening, the nun returned and told him, "Our connection has come to an end. This girl is your wife, and the spirit is me. Why won't you agree?" Touched, the fisherman vowed to stay with the nun forever. She cried in gratitude but didn't insist any further. The next day, he informed the girl's parents about the situation, and the spirit never appeared again. Several months later, the fisherman passed away.
